A Unique Aspect Of Intelligence
Written and transcribed by Terry Grant
This is a continuation of a message I have transcribed and edited from a talk Ishvara gave on April 30, 2006. - TG.
Ishvara:
There is a human attachment to the concept of "freedom." When a system says, "The enemy will come and take away your freedom," you immediately open yourself up to the idea, "What do we need to do to prevent that?" The system responds, "We have to strike first. We have to attack."
There is always "the enemy," a bad guy out there. Yet the enemy is closer to you than you imagine. For example, the enemy comes into your house whenever you turn on the television. I remember, when I was younger, there were people who would not have a television in their house because they felt the television was the "eye of the devil." I didn't believe that. The television is a great programmer, though.
However, you cannot hide from the world. You can't isolate yourself. You really need to know what is happening. You need to recognize the causes and effects that are running in the world--not to scare you, not to create stress, but because of who you are as a human being, because you are a manifestation of the universe, a unique aspect of intelligence. When you truly know what is going on in the world, the light of your awareness has an effect on that. If you give your power away to programming and conditioning, beliefs and concepts, the effect goes in the other direction.
You wouldn't give other people your money and tell them, "Go and buy me what I need," because you realize that they would not know what you need. Yet all the time, the media, the government, the systems and the structures are telling you what you need. They employ specialists who determine how they can get people to think the way they want them to think.
Years ago, when a company came out with the first boxed cake mixes, the company did a preliminary test and found out that housewives were excited about it. "That's a good idea," the housewives told the company. But at the outset, the boxed cake mixes did not sell very well. The store shelves were loaded with boxes of cake mix, and nobody was buying them. And so the company talked to a psychologist who determined that the problem was that housewives felt a responsibility to take care of their family, and they didn't feel they were fulfilling that responsibility by just dumping the contents of a box into a pan and putting it into the oven. The company came up with a solution. It told people: "You have to add eggs to this cake mix." After that, the boxes of cake mix sold so fast that the stores could not keep enough of them in stock. Adding the eggs enabled the housewife to believe that she was doing her duty, that she was taking care of her family by mixing something up and preparing it. Just a simple thing like that manipulated the masses.
If such a simple thing can manipulate humans so much, then you have to ask: What else is being used to manipulate us now? What else do we need to be aware of?
A higher consciousness is seen through clarity and connection, not through fear. When something is happening in the world, when conflict or chaos is developing, try to discern who is benefiting from that. You can usually trace it back to greed.
You can think about the possibility of having no more wars, no more weapons of destruction of any kind (mass, or otherwise), no more tanks, no more planes, no more military gear. The result would be that many people would lose their jobs. Many corporations would have to shut down. So who benefits from war? It seems to come down to the manufacturers, the stockholders and CEO's. These are the people who benefit from the business of war and destruction.
I used to imagine that humans had a strong sense of responsibility, but I find it difficult to see that any more. People do not want to take responsibility for their lives, for what is happening; they would rather give the responsibility to someone else. That is not a good place for the human to be. Giving responsibility away is giving your power away, giving your choice away, and it is really saying that someone out there (in the system) knows more, is better than, is more powerful than you.
You have to stop that kind of thinking. You have to take your power back. You say, "Wait a minute. I see this cause and effect going on and I don't like what is happening. I don't see the need to shoot first and ask questions later. I don't see the need to go bombing innocent people. I don't see the need to retaliate over some imagined problem."
When you hear someone say, "Well, they are going to do this to us," you can ask, "How do you know? Who said?" It is a matter of discernment. Discernment is being sapped at an alarming rate. People are not using their own personal intelligence or discernment to look and see what is happening in the world.
